Associate Attorney

We are currently seeking an Associate Attorney to join our dynamic labor & employment group and our personal injury & negligence practice. The ideal candidate holds admission to practice in the District of Columbia, and preferably in Maryland and/or Virginia as well. Whether you bring experience in the labor & employment and personal injury field or possess a strong desire to venture into these practice areas, we welcome your application.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to work with seasoned attorneys and the potential for advancement within the practice. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

As a vital member of our team, you will contribute to the success of our thriving practice. Specific duties, once hired, will include, but are not limited to:

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor
  • Admitted to practice in District of Columbia
  • 0 - 5 years Legal Experience

Salary Range:

  • $90,000 - $115,000 annually

Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Conduct legal research and gather relevant information for each case.
  • Prepare legal memoranda and briefs for EEO and disciplinary appeals.
  • Draft correspondence to employers and negotiate separations.
  • Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, and pleadings.
  • Conduct discovery and prepare responses.

Client Communication:

  • Communicate with clients regularly to provide updates on case status.
  • Interview clients and gather necessary information for their cases.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and address their concerns.

Legal Analysis and Strategy:

  • Analyze legal issues in labor and employment and personal injury cases and develop effective strategies.
  • Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of cases and provide guidance to clients.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies.

Court Appearances:

  • Represent clients in litigation, move towards depositions, and mediations.
  • Attend settlement conferences and negotiate favorable settlements.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials when necessary.

Document Preparation:

  • Prepare and review legal documents, including demand letters, legal briefs, settlement negotiations, and contracts.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.

Legal Research:

  • Stay current on legal developments and changes in personal injury law and labor and employment law.
  • Conduct legal research to support case arguments and strategies.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Continuing

Education:

  • Attend relevant legal seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay informed about industry trends and best practices.

Compliance and Ethics:

  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and legal regulations.
  • Uphold the firm's commitment to professional integrity and ethical conduct.

Business Development:

  • Contribute to the firm's business development efforts, including networking and building relationships in the legal community.
