An Am Law firm seeks a Patent Attorney with expertise in chemistry to join its Washington, D.C. office. This is a partner-track position offering the chance to work on high-profile matters in patent prosecution while supporting clients at the cutting edge of science and technology.
OverviewThe position involves representing clients in a broad range of patent prosecution matters. Attorneys will draft and prosecute applications before the USPTO, manage assignments across multiple partners, and advise clients in industries spanning life sciences, biotechnology, and chemical engineering.
Key Responsibilities- Draft and prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Conduct due diligence reviews for clients in complex transactions
- Manage a diverse workload from multiple partners and clients
- Provide strategic guidance on intellectual property matters
- 2–4 years of patent prosecution experience in a law firm or similar setting
- Registered to practice before the USPTO (Patent Bar eligibility required)
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (if applicable)
- Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in chemistry, organic chemistry, polymer science, biochemistry, or related field
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment under deadlines
