Description
Williams & Connolly LLP is currently seeking a Patent Paralegal. The role will work closely with the IP practice group and senior paralegals. The firm’s single‑office location offers close‑knit mentoring and growth opportunities. Candidates should have exposure to legal processes and practice‑specific procedures and be eager to build a career with well‑respected trial teams. Under the direction of the Chief Paralegal Services Officer, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities- Providing paralegal support to attorneys, senior paralegals and case managers throughout all phases of litigation;
- Managing all case materials, including electronic files and database applications;
- Obtaining and filing materials with federal and local courts and agencies;
- Performing factual research;
- Tracking the course of information and case materials;
- Coordinating with outside vendors and service providers;
- Assisting attorneys in preparing for depositions, trials and arbitrations, proactively managing logistics, exhibits, filings and deadlines.
- 3+ years of litigation experience;
- Familiarity with searching techniques and strategies for developing, collecting and organizing patent‑related resources and references;
- Knowledge of proceedings before the PTAB (preferred);
- Experience with District Court proceedings in Hatch‑Waxman cases (preferred);
- Strong attention to detail;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and time‑management skills;
- Experience multi‑tasking and working under tight deadlines;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Adobe Acrobat and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Case Map and Case Notebook (preferred).
Regular hours: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm. Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays is required. After the introductory period, the candidate may qualify for a hybrid schedule approved by the department.
Physical Demands- Prolonged periods using a sit‑to‑stand desk and working on a computer;
- Repetitive movements including typing and mouse use;
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs;
- Required to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
The position is non‑exempt with an anticipated hourly wage of $43.58–$51.28, equivalent to $85,000–$100,000 annually on a 1,950‑hour schedule. Final offers vary with experience, education and other qualifications.
