Position: Conflicts Analyst I

Description

Williams & Connolly LLP has an immediate opening for a full-time Conflicts Analyst I. The business intake and conflicts function is essential to the firm's compliance with its ethical obligations prevailing in jurisdictions in which it practices, the firm's adherence to Risk Management policies and procedures, and its ability to promptly onboard new business, in the form of new clients and new matters for existing clients, new timekeepers and new employees.

Under the direction of the Professional Responsibility & Risk Management Counsel and working closely with the Conflicts Supervisor, the Conflicts Attorneys, and the firm's General Counsel and Ethics Committee, this position's duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform quality control reviews of requests for new business, including reviewing and analyzing new and existing client/matter intake submissions to ensure that data is accurate, complete, and adheres to established policies and procedures;
  • Perform data entry, search and analysis using Williams & Connolly's new business conflicts and intake database (Intapp);
  • Perform initial due diligence for new clients;
  • Assist in retrieval, review and retention of client engagement agreements, outside counsel guidelines and other forms with ethics rules and opinions;
  • Provide and decipher Corporate Family Tree information;
  • Provide conflicts information to requesting attorneys, Conflicts Attorneys, Professional Responsibility and Risk Management Counsel and the Ethics Committee;
  • Provide status of new client matters;
  • Assist with drafting of engagement letters as needed;
  • Produce Conflicts Checks or New Matter Forms by Proxy;
  • Handle numerous calls and emails as they relate to Conflicts and New Client Matters; and
  • Assist with a wide range other projects assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required and a minimum of one year of professional work experience, which may include internships or comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with the Intapp suite of products is preferred, in particular Conflicts/Intake/Terms.
  • Demonstrate ability to compile, review, and synthesize key data and information.
  • Strong research skills using internal and external resources.
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing competing priorities with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to produce quality and timely work product.
  • Collaborate effectively across departments, with colleagues at all levels of the firm, and with outside contacts to accomplish shared goals and efficient workflows.

The working hours for this position are 9:00 am - 5:30 pm. Overtime may be required. After successfully completing the introductory period, the candidate will be eligible to work the department's approved hybrid schedule.

Work is performed in a professional office environment and requires the following:

  • Prolonged periods using a sit-to-stand desk and working on a computer.
  • Repetitive movements, including typing on a keyboard and using a mouse.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15lbs.
  • Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

This is a non-exempt position. The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $30.76 - $38.46, which equates to $60,000-$75,000 on an annual basis based when working the standard 1,950-hour annual work schedule. The final offer amount is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, education, and other relevant skills and qualifications.
