Position Overview

We invite applications for the prestigious role of National Security & Commerce Regulatory Counsel based in Washington, D.C. This position offers a dynamic hybrid work environment and a competitive annual salary ranging between $390,000 and $455,000. The successful candidate will provide high-level advisory services to multinational corporations and sovereign entities, specializing in international trade and U.S. national security regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert legal counsel on cross-border compliance, tariff classification, and intricate customs requirements.
  • Interpret and shape international trade policy and legislative initiatives.
  • Lead defense strategies in government proceedings concerning countervailing duties and anti-dumping measures.
  • Conduct detailed regulatory diligence for major corporate transactions to safeguard against national security threats.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and support policy advocacy and international commercial diplomacy.
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the D.C. Bar or eligibility for prompt waiver-in.
  • A minimum of six years of post-J.D. experience in transnational commercial regulations and national security law.
  • Profound knowledge in international trade law, including customs, export/import controls, and trade policy.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven record in legal writing and policy documentation.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in a senior government role related to international trade.
  • Proficiency in handling complex countervailing and anti-dumping investigations.
  • Advanced qualifications such as an L.L.M. in International Law.
  • Strong mentoring capabilities and experience leading cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience in advising on the CFIUS process or foreign investment review mechanisms.
