A highly regarded AmLaw firm is seeking a senior-level associate to join its Chambers-ranked Energy Regulatory Practice in Washington, D.C. This role offers the opportunity to work with a market-leading data center energy team while also being part of a broad-based energy regulatory practice. The ideal candidate will bring deep regulatory experience and a strong interest in energy matters at the intersection of transactional and regulatory law.
Responsibilities- Advise clients on complex energy regulatory and transactional matters
- Handle regulatory authorizations and administrative litigation before FERC and state utility commissions
- Negotiate power supply and energy infrastructure transactions, including data center-related matters
- Draft pleadings, briefs, testimony, and settlement agreements
- Support M&A, private equity, project finance, and energy project development transactions
- Work on large-scale energy infrastructure projects, including data centers, renewable, thermal, and nuclear power generation, transmission, pipelines, and LNG facilities
- Interface with regional transmission organizations (RTOs) and provide strategic regulatory counseling
- 6–8 years of experience in energy regulatory matters
- Experience practicing before FERC and/or state utility commissions
- Background in data center energy transactions or regulatory proceedings strongly preferred
- Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Strong interest in energy markets and infrastructure
- Collegial, team-oriented approach and comfort working directly with clients

CompensationCompensation: $390,000–$435,000 annually based on experience and qualifications, plus discretionary performance-based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package
