The Opportunity

The paralegal position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to grow within CACI. In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Department of Justice legal team assigned to the Radiation Exposure Compensation Program (“RECA”) and exclusively perform administrative law related assignments in the RECA Call Center. You will answer questions from RECA applicants who call the RECA 1-800 line and interpret regulations pertaining to the RECA statute.

As a CACI Paralegal supporting the DOJ’s mission, you will gain invaluable knowledge and transferrable skills related to eDiscovery practice and procedures and utilize document databases to conduct searches and code evidentiary material. You will be part of a high‑performing team completing assignments with established procedures, including:

• Compiling, preparing, and summarizing relevant materials for use by attorneys
• Maintaining case files
• Performing simple legal and/or factual research
• Indexing, tracking, and controlling case related materials (including claimant related files)
• Reviewing documents for legal sufficiency according to established guidelines and criteria

Required: A paralegal certificate, JD, or current enrollment in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study (alternatively, one year of legal training or two years of college education may substitute for the paralegal certificate). Minimum one year of litigation paralegal experience or related project experience is required. Candidates must have basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and the ability to cite legal motions and memoranda, and sufficient experience with legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of various computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, hardware systems) are essential. Familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources is required. Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to deliver high‑quality work under pressure are paramount. DOJ MBI clearance must be obtainable (US citizenship required).

Desired:

• Automated legal support experience
• Advanced computer and database expertise (MS Excel and Word skills necessary)

This position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately. However, it represents a class of consistently available positions within CACI. Applicants may also be considered for other roles at CACI.
