Senior Counsel - Insurance Litigation (AM Law 100)

Senior Counsel - Insurance Litigation - Washington, DC

Firm: A leading AM Law 100 firm with over 500 attorneys across close to 10 offices. This firm specializes in areas like corporate law, litigation, intellectual property, life sciences, private equity, energy, technology, and financial services, serving multinational clients with a focus on innovation and complex problem‑solving.

Role:
Serve as a senior legal expert within the firm's Insurance Practice Group, providing specialized legal counsel and representation in complex insurance litigation matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Litigation Management:
    Lead and manage all phases of insurance-related litigation, including coverage disputes, bad faith claims, subrogation, and reinsurance disputes, in state and federal courts.
  • Client Representation:
    Represent insurance carriers, policyholders, brokers, and other stakeholders in complex litigation, arbitration, and mediation proceedings.
  • Legal Analysis and Strategy:
    Provide expert analysis of insurance policies, coverage issues, and contractual obligations; develop and implement litigation strategies to achieve client objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Bar Admission in New York
  • 6+ years of experience in insurance litigation, with a proven track record of handling complex cases involving property, casualty, professional liability, D&O, or other insurance lines.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $280,000–$300,000+, commensurate with experience.
  • Additional Compensation:
    Annual performance-based bonus.
