ASL Float Interpreter

Context Global, Inc., a local interpreting agency in the Washington D.C. area, is seeking a full‑time ASL float interpreter.

We are seeking a skilled and flexible ASL Interpreter to provide on‑demand interpreting services for a variety of assignments within the DMV community. The ideal candidate will be proficient in American Sign Language and able to effectively facilitate communication in diverse settings, including educational institutions and local government agencies.

• Provide on‑call ASL interpretation for various assignments, including but not limited to:
  • Classroom settings
  • School meetings
  • Government meetings and events
  • Community programs
• Ensure effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interpreting situations.
• Adapt to varying environments and accommodate the needs of clients.

• Proven experience in interpreting in educational and governmental contexts.
• Strong understanding of Deaf culture and community.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Customer service skills and ability to interact with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds (customers, colleagues, and management).
• Ability to work on short notice and adapt to changing schedules.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program or three years of experience as a sign language interpreter.
  Preference will be given to a graduate of an accredited interpreter training program.
• Certification is not required, but EIPA and NIC Certification get preference.

• Must have reliable transportation and be available for daily assignments.

• Because the position works in a public school system, applicants may be required to pass a background clearance, which includes:
