This is a long-term contract (with benefits) onsite in Reston VA, Southeast DC or College Park MD. Our client requires an active TS/SCI clearance with the willingness to take a polygraph exam
Design, build, and operate the backend infrastructure for a security case management platform. This role focuses on scalable system architecture, data modeling, API and microservices development, secure integrations, and close collaboration with product, security, and operations teams supporting mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities- Architect and implement backend systems, data models, and storage layers for a security case management platform
- Design and develop high-performance APIs, microservices, and core system components
- Build and maintain backend integrations with security tools, platforms, and external systems
- Develop and operate API services, event-driven pipelines, and data ingestion workflows
- Implement and enforce platform security, including authentication, authorization, and secure data transmission
- Support system reliability, performance, and maintainability through sound engineering practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, security, and operations stakeholders
- 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Java, Go, or Node.js
- Experience building workflow, case management, ticketing, or automation platforms
- Strong experience designing and implementing APIs (REST and/or Graph
QL) and event-driven architectures - Hands-on experience integrating complex systems using APIs, message queues, and ETL/data pipelines
- Knowledge of security engineering principles, platform hardening, and secure system design
- Active TS/SCI clearance with willingness to take a polygraph
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience supporting IT or engineering projects
- Ability to obtain DoD 8570.01-M Cybersecurity Service Provider – Infrastructure Support certification within 30 days
- Strong system architecture and platform design expertise
- Proven ability to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions
- High attention to detail with a focus on reliability and long-term maintainability
