Senior Systems Engineer

Project Description

This role supports the stability, performance, and security of enterprise and data center network infrastructure. The position is responsible for managing Cisco-based networking environments including Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms, wireless networks, ISE, and IPS, while ensuring high availability, security compliance, and continuous operations. Period of Performance:
Until December 31, 2026, with possibility of extension. Place of Performance:
On-site at Washington, DC campus locations of client.

Minimum of 10 years of experience supporting enterprise grade routers and switches in large data center environments. Expert-level knowledge of BGP and OSPF, including traffic engineering, route optimization, and failover design. Strong expertise in TCP/IP troubleshooting and packet analysis. Hands-on experience configuring and supporting:

• BGP, OSPF, and STP on Cisco NX-OS and IOS-XE platforms
• Cisco Nexus (9K, 7K) and Catalyst switches and routers
• Proven experience designing, planning, testing, implementing, and troubleshooting large-scale data center networks.
• Experience with network management and monitoring tools, such as Solar Winds and Cisco Catalyst Center.
• Experience with cloud networking and hybrid network architectures.
• U.S. citizenship is a requirement.

• Ability to Design, implement, and maintain internal and external network infrastructure supporting critical business applications.
• Ability to provide support day-to-day network operations and ongoing initiatives, including routing and switching troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and operational support.
• Ability to develop and implement new network designs and improvements to enhance performance, resiliency, and scalability.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute network upgrades in collaboration with internal teams.
• Ability to participate in cloud migration and hybrid network initiatives.
