Join a team of Research, Design, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals dedicated to solving some of the most critical operational challenges facing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Amentum is seeking Data Scientists to support the DHS Science and Technology Directorate’s (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS). Your work will directly contribute to the identification, development, assessment, and deployment of technologies that enhance national security and strengthen America’s homeland.

Purpose/Scope:

Amentum is hiring a Data Scientist to tackle mission-critical analytics and provide actionable insights in support of government operations. This position is ideally suited for professionals experienced with DHS datasets, and homeland security-related challenges
, leveraging data science to drive impactful results.

Position is telework but applicant must reside within the National Capital Region (NCR).

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Utilize advanced data science principles, concepts, and practices to analyze immigration and law enforcement systems, databases
    , identifying trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
  • Perform analytics on large and complex datasets from law enforcement and government systems
    , facilitating decision‑making processes and the development of operational strategies.
  • Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and data visualization tools tailored to immigration enforcement, criminal investigations, and related operational needs.
  • Design and apply data‑driven solutions to support immigration enforcement tasks
    , anti‑smuggling operations, and interdiction efforts.
  • Interpret and communicate analytical findings for stakeholders, with a focus on improving processes within ICE, DHS, and other federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Prepare clear and detailed reports, evaluations, and procedural documents tailored for senior‑level decision‑makers in immigration enforcement and homeland security sectors
    .
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including analysts, agents, and policymakers, to translate operational requirements into data‑driven solutions.
  • Advance analytical tools and technologies to improve the understanding of trends in border security, human smuggling, and immigration system integrity
    .
  • Research emerging data science methodologies and evaluate their applications within the context of law enforcement and immigration platforms.
Minimum Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to pass DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) clearance and maintain suitability for Public Trust.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, with 5+ years of relevant experience
    .
  • Direct experience working with law enforcement datasets, government systems, immigration data, or ICE systems
    .
  • Strong knowledge of statistical analysis and data science methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports or presentations tailored for law enforcement officials or federal agencies
    .
  • Proficiency in researching and analyzing operational problems to develop practical, data‑based solutions.
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify significant factors within immigration and law enforcement datasets
    .
  • Effective communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks to meet project timelines.
  • Position may require occasional travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DHS Public Trust or related security clearance designation.
  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a comparable field.
  • Experience with immigration enforcement systems, ICE tools, or border security analytics.
  • Direct knowledge of law enforcement datasets
    , including crime trends, detention operations, or border crossing data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL to manipulate and analyze immigration and law enforcement data sources.
  • Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) to develop dashboards and visual insights for law enforcement or federal agencies
