Description of Task to be Performed:

Ana Vation is seeking a Database Administrator - Senior who will manage and optimize our customers database environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies, plus hands‑on experience with Apache NiFi for data‑flow automation and integration.

This role blends core DBA tasks with system administration in Windows Server. You'll help ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server 2016+ databases
  • Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statistics
  • Design, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping)
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration
  • Automate routine operations using Power Shell or similar scripting tools
  • Collaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changes
  • Enforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditing
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non‑production environments
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practices

This position requires a Top‑Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.

This position is on‑site in Washington DC with no remote option.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7 years experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • Documented, demonstrated experience in database administration, including performance tuning and high availability.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with complex data and platform issues.
  • Documented experience leading initiatives as an individual contributor and as a team lead/consultant.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing data policies, procedures, and standards in regulated or high‑scale environments.
  • Experience planning and developing enterprise data models and metadata/lineage practices.
  • Track record resolving data conflicts and ensuring data quality across multiple sources/systems.
  • Experience managing diverse data repositories (RDBMS, No

    SQL, object storage) and governance tooling.
  • Demonstrated success optimizing data warehouses, lakes, and other storage layers for performance and cost.
  • A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Can be on‑site 5 days a week.
  • Knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSAS
  • Experience using NiFi for ETL workflows
  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Exposure to Dev Ops tools and CI/CD pipelines
  • Cloud experience
  • Experience with Power Shell
  • Experience with Apache NiFi flows for data ingestion and integration
