Join to apply for the Lead Product Designer - Lifecycle role at Rocket Money
.

Rocket Money’s mission is to meaningfully improve the financial prosperity of millions of people. Rocket Money offers members a unique understanding of their finances and a suite of valuable services that save them time and money – ultimately giving them a leg up on their financial journey.

Please note:

We strongly encourage team members to be in the office 1-2 days per week, though there is no formal in-office requirement.

We’re looking for a Product Design Team Lead to guide our Lifecycle group — the team responsible for the most growth-critical moments in the Rocket Money journey: onboarding, authentication, dashboard entry points, and premium membership conversion.

This role blends design leadership with hands‑on design work. You’ll lead and mentor a team of designers focused on optimizing the entire user lifecycle — from acquisition through retention. Your team’s work will directly influence how effectively we turn sign-ups into engaged members, convert free users into paying subscribers, and re‑engage people over time.

You’ll partner closely with product, engineering, research, and data teams to uncover friction points, design experiments, and rapidly iterate toward measurable outcomes. This means balancing clarity and craft with speed and experimentation — knowing when to follow established patterns, when to refine for accessibility and scale, and when to test bold new ideas.

Responsibilities
  • Define and evolve the design strategy for the Lifecycle group, with a focus on activation, conversion, retention, and re‑engagement.
  • Collaborate with Product partners to identify opportunities in funnels and flows, then design experiments to improve key growth metrics.
  • Lead and mentor a team of product designers, creating a culture of curiosity, accountability, and high‑quality execution.
  • Design, prototype, and test growth‑focused solutions across onboarding, premium upsells, authentication, and dashboard entry points.
  • Partner with analytics and research to translate insights into actionable design opportunities, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative inputs.
  • Ensure design outcomes are measurable, accessible, and aligned with both user needs and business goals.
  • Build scalable patterns and frameworks for growth experiments so the team can test quickly without sacrificing usability.
  • Present design strategies and experiment results to senior leadership, framing outcomes in terms of user impact and business value.
  • Work closely with Product Design Ops to maintain and evolve the end‑to‑end design process, ensuring efficient workflows, high‑quality outputs, and timely delivery of design assets.
  • Champion user‑centered design principles by overseeing the creation of seamless experiences across Platform features (and beyond) to ensure that all designs are intuitive, accessible, and informed by user research, testing, and feedback.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in product or UX design, with a portfolio that shows clarity, rigor, and impact.
  • 2+ years leading or mentoring designers, formally or informally.
  • Experience designing for growth, onboarding, and improving user acquisition/engagement.
  • Skilled in Figma and comfortable working with modern design systems.
  • Adept at working with engineers and PMs, with an appreciation for how design decisions affect implementation.
  • A clear communicator who can frame design rationale in a way that builds alignment.
  • Motivated to see others succeed — you balance hands‑on contribution with coaching and delegation.
  • Comfortable in ambiguity and proactive in bringing structure and clarity.
Perks
  • Competitive Pay
  • Matching 401k
  • Unlimited PTO

Additional information:
Salary range of $140,000 – $170,000/year + bonus + benefits.

Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skill, and experience.

Benefits
  • Medical insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid maternity leave
  • Paid paternity leave
  • Tuition assistance
