- Support changing and evolving system software needs when requested by the Government.
- Follow all software installation procedures as developed by the Government.
- Provide support for hardware installation and configuration to include desktop computers, laptops, tablet devices, smartphones, printers, scanners, network routers, switches, servers, uninterruptible power supplies, private branch exchange devices, interactive whiteboard, projectors, monitors, cell phones, evolving devices.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of DOI/IA computer components and DOI/IA equipment and software assigned by the government.
- Participate in OIMT User Support conference calls that are required by the field support manager in support of training and new IT requirements.
- Support other locations, enterprise-wide via remote desktop support tools.
- Receive technical information, guidance and processes from the assigned Federal Functional/Task Lead.
- Provide established technical standards and advise on approved technologies.
- Responsible for maintaining a neat and orderly cable plant as well as ensuring physical security policies are followed for server rooms, etc.
- Assist Tier III support in troubleshooting higher level issues including server or network switching, as well as lifting equipment weighing from 50 to up to 75 pounds to install servers and network switches in equipment racks.
- May need to participate in the execution of special projects including:
- Significant desktop or site migrations.
- Significant technology implementations in the enterprise.
- Significant move of a DOI/IA site from one location to another.
- Addressing a significant security issue at one or multiple sites.
- Assisting program offices with the development of requirements.
- Assisting program offices with the implementation of a new IT service or technology.
- Providing temporary support at a location other than the duty station.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree or combination of education and experience, or tradeoff between all of them.
- A minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in supporting desktop computers, laptop computers, mobile devices, printers, scanners, local area networks, servers and network switches.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to support Microsoft operating systems.
- Working knowledge of general office software such as Microsoft Office and Google Mail. Ability to support specialized software such as GIS, AutoCAD and software unique to Indian Affairs (or similar software or general business application support is acceptable).
- Ability to work with minimal guidance.
- Ability to travel to other locations may be requested.
- Ability to support short notice emergency tasks and 24/7 on-call support. These emergencies may happen during or after normal work hours.
