Position Summary

The Backend Software Engineer will play a critical role in the development and sustainment of Socium, a mission‑critical DoD enterprise system supporting global Security Cooperation activities. This position focuses on designing, building, and maintaining backend services and integrations that ensure secure, scalable, and high‑performing functionality across NIPRNet and SIPRNet environments.

  • Backend Development & Integration
    :
    Design and implement server‑side logic, APIs, and data services for Socium. Develop secure and efficient integrations with DoD systems and external mission partner platforms. Optimize backend performance for large‑scale, cross‑domain operations.
  • System Architecture & Engineering
    :
    Contribute to enterprise-level architecture decisions and ensure alignment with DoD technical guardrails. Support development of workflows, orchestrations, and data management processes. Implement responsive design principles for backend components supporting UI/UX requirements. Develop for automated testing and integrated code security.
  • Security & Compliance
    :
    Apply cybersecurity best practices, including STIG compliance and RMF requirements. Support ATO processes and maintain secure coding standards. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to remediate vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.
  • Agile Development & Dev Sec Ops :
    Participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives). Work within CI/CD pipelines to deliver incremental releases. Provide technical input for user stories and acceptance criteria.
Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of experience with large technology systems.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience supporting technology systems for DoD.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience identifying opportunities for improving user experience and defining the design roadmap.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, or Information Technology.
Location

Arington, VA (remote as permitted)

Travel Requirements

Occasional domestic and international travel may be required for short‑term technical assistance assignments.
