Senior Integrator – Windows Systems (DOT COE) Role Summary
The Senior Integrator will provide hands‑on systems integration and systems administration support for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and high‑level initiatives across the Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Operating Environment (COE). This role supports enterprise Windows‑based systems, ensures service stability, leads troubleshooting and escalation efforts, and contributes to the design and implementation of new solutions across on‑prem and cloud environments.
The position is full‑time, onsite at DOT Headquarters in Washington, DC
, with coverage for a later daily support shift ending between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
.
- Provide hands‑on technical expertise supporting OCIO initiatives, enterprise requirements, service restoration, and outage prevention.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex production, application, and system issues; lead and guide troubleshooting efforts across multiple teams.
- Oversee daily system monitoring, ensuring integrity, availability, and performance of hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes.
- Perform provisioning, patching, vulnerability remediation, and day‑to‑day management of enterprise Windows server environments.
- Support Windows servers, Active Directory, Remote Desktop Services, OS vulnerability remediation, and workstation/server patching.
- Manage and support hypervisor environments including VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V.
- Provision servers across on‑prem
, AWS Gov Cloud
, AWS
, Azure
, Oracle
, and Google environments. - Design, deploy, and support high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities.
- Support DOT field site reduction initiatives and cloud migration efforts.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis
, risk identification, risk mitigation, and Problem Management for Windows systems and tools. - Identify opportunities to improve service delivery through automation, scripting, and process enhancements.
- Support new enterprise systems and engineering solutions addressing existing operational issues.
- Create and maintain system documentation including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in 24x7 on‑call escalation support once every 2–3 months as part of a team rotation.
- Microsoft Server Administration – expert level
- Windows Server Operating Systems (2019–2022) – expert level
- Scripting: MS Graph / Power Shell and VBScript – expert level
- VMware vSphere and Hyper‑V virtualization – expert level
- Active Directory / Microsoft Entra – senior level
- Extensive knowledge of multi‑vendor server operating systems
- Experience with root cause analysis
, risk identification
, and risk mitigation - Experience operating in a fast‑tempo ITSM support environment
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- IT Service Management service delivery to the U.S. Government
- Microsoft Certifications
, including:- Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Azure Fundamentals
- Azure Administrator Associate
- MS365 Certified Administrator Expert
- AWS and/or Azure cloud certifications
- VMware certifications
- Google certifications and/or experience with Google Workspace deployment and implementation
- Service Now ITSM platform experience
- Knowledge of DISA STIG and CIS Benchmark guidelines for Microsoft Windows servers
- Intune access experience with co‑management across Microsoft Intune and SCCM/MECM
- Knowledge of PKI technologies
, including Digi Cert, Sectigo, Keyfactor, and certificate issuance/management solutions - Additional professional IT or Project Management certifications
- Experience managing environments with 2,000+ servers across multiple field site locations
- Experience leading multi‑team troubleshooting calls using a multi‑discipline approach
- Demonstrated experience across all aspects of enterprise Windows environment operations and engineering
- Ability to work full‑time onsite at DOT HQ in Washington, DC
- Availability to work a later daily shift ending between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM
- Ability to participate in on‑call escalation support on a rotating basis
- Must be a U.S. citizen or green card holder
- Must have resided in the U.S. for at least 3 years
- Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
