Overview

LMI seeks a Senior Acquisition Team Lead to support a Customs and Border Protection program. The Senior Acquisition Team Lead will provide leadership and oversight across acquisition support for a large, complex CBP program supporting mission-critical activities. The Team Lead leads a team of contractor acquisition and program management professionals, ensuring high-quality delivery of acquisition products and services, driving innovation and process improvements, and collaborating closely with program managers, contracting officials, and other stakeholders.

This role requires a strong customer-service mindset, deep acquisition expertise, and proactive engagement capabilities. The role requires on‑site presence in Washington, DC 1‑2 days per week.

Responsibilities

Program Focal Point: Serve as the Government PM's primary POC for individual programs.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and supervise contractor acquisition and program management staff across a program.

Program Execution: Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the program's daily tasks, deliverables, and activities, including planning and execution, logistics, and staffing requirements where applicable.

  • Elevates risks, issues, and opportunities when appropriate.
  • Responds to internal and external taskers/questions and inquiries on assigned tasks, projects, and business analysis.

Proactive Mindset: Proactively resolves risks and issues that impact the team's ability to support USBP's mission and goals.

Quality: Leads the team to develop program deliverables and work products for quality, accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client and LMI and PMOD customer quality standards.

Cross‑Program

Collaboration:

Collaborates with adjacent teams.

Team Building and Resource Coordination: Leads allocated LMI resources to accomplish team priorities, monitors performance, and conducts the LMI program staff, continually guiding staff and reinforcing desired behaviors.

Acquisition and Program Management Support & Execution

  • Provides acquisition and contracting subject matter expertise and advisory support regarding DHS acquisition practices and lifecycle governance, including:
    • Contract awards and management
    • Source selection support
    • Cost and pricing support
    • Contract administration support
  • Oversees the development and review of acquisition presentations and documentation (e.g., acquisition strategies, market research, SOWs/PWSs, IGCEs, evaluation criteria).
  • Works with US Border Patrol to establish and monitor the program's execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.

Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance acquisition execution, documentation quality, and efficiency.
  • Introduces innovative tools, approaches, and acquisition techniques aligned with DHS mission needs and federal procurement regulations.
