Senior Network Engineer

Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic and mission-driven team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive, hands-on experience with cloud technologies, service-oriented architectures, and hybrid network solutions deployed across geographically dispersed environments.

In this role, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and life cycle management of complex LAN/WAN and cloud-integrated network infrastructures. This includes leading efforts in procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network communications systems while ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with organizational and DoD standards.

The selected candidate will also evaluate and optimize existing network systems, conduct vendor and cost analyses for large-scale projects, and apply advanced problem-solving to develop innovative, secure, and scalable network solutions. This position requires expert-level knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies, network protocols, and enterprise-level applications, as well as the ability to provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior network engineers and support personnel.

• Administer and support enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN systems, routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Manage network services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, RADIUS, and AAA to ensure reliable and secure communication across systems.
• Configure and maintain IP address space management (IPv4 and IPv6), routing protocols (BGP), VLAN segmentation, and NAT configurations.
• Review and analyze requests for network connectivity to ensure compliance with organizational policies and technical standards.
• Capture, analyze, and troubleshoot network traffic to optimize performance and identify issues proactively.
• Support network access control and implement security measures that align with DoD and organizational cybersecurity requirements.
• Assist with network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communication systems to support enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Provide tier-level troubleshooting and resolve complex network performance issues in coordination with system administrators and cybersecurity teams.

The Active Secret Clearance must have:

• Minimum of five (5) years of professional network engineering experience in enterprise or DoD environments.
• Extensive hands-on experience with network administration tools, protocols, and systems including DNS, DHCP, NTP, RADIUS, AAA, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, VLAN, and NAT.
• Strong background in network access control management and security enforcement across complex architectures.
• Experience in network performance tuning, packet capture analysis, and troubleshooting using industry-standard tools.
• Experience supporting network planning and modeling, including integration between network hardware and software platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve critical network issues efficiently.

A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
