Position: Specialist, Staff Talent Development

How You’ll Contribute

The Human Resources (HR) team works to find, grow and retain talent and build the NGS community. HR is dedicated to designing and building people and total reward strategies that enhance employee culture and the employee experience  HR department includes HR Business Partners, Total Rewards & Recognition, and Talent Management. Reporting to the Director for Staff Talent Development, the Staff Talent Development Specialist will provide critical operational and administrative support for the organization’s learning and performance management programs.

The Specialist will bring strong organizational skills, an action‑orientation, and a passion for innovative learning experiences.

Your Impact Responsibilities Include Learning & Development (50%)
  • Support the development of innovative, engaging, meaningful, and accessible learning experiences
  • Provide support for virtual, in‑person, and hybrid training events
  • Update training materials and slide decks, and other supporting materials such as manuals, training guides, job aids, assets and more
  • Conduct research to support content development
  • Curate learning content to create a suite of on‑demand learning paths for staff
Project Management (40%)
  • Manage day‑to‑day implementation of e‑learning and on‑demand programs
  • Organize and manage staff communications & logistics for all learning programs
  • Coordinate efforts with HR Business Partners and other internal partners to ensure learning opportunities are widely accessible to all staff
Data Analysis & Reports (10%)
  • Develop and implement evaluation tools to measure the impact and quality of training courses
  • Gather, monitor and analyze evaluation data to inform strategy and drive better decision‑making
What You’ll Bring Educational Background

A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred

Minimum Years And Type Of Experience

3+ years of work experience in talent development and/or adult learning

Necessary Knowledge And Skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Creative problem‑solver with attention to detail
  • Proactive self‑starter who excels in ambiguous environments
  • Highly adaptable and able to pivot effectively in response to shifting priorities or organizational change
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with e‑Learning authoring tools such as (but not limited to) Articulate
  • Experience managing an LMS
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Staff Talent Development function

Salary Information

The National Geographic Society offers a competitive and holistic total rewards package. Our compensation structure and transparent pay philosophy are based on industry‑specific market data for similar‑sized nonprofit organizations. The salary range for this position accounts for a wide range of factors including but not limited to organizational need; specific skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and more. At the National Geographic Society, individuals are typically hired at or near the starting point of the salary range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The salary range for this position is $72,200.00 - $76,000.00
.
