ResponsibilitiesDirector of Environmental Services/Housekeeping
Establishes, directs and sustains a fiscally responsible and measurably effective housekeeping and linen program across the hospital. Leads a housekeeping operation that produces a sparkling clean, hygienic, and safe environment that is patient-centered, sustainable (green cleaning and integrated pest management), aligned with customer demands, and yields results measured by patient satisfaction scores and internal KPIs within the approved budget. Maintains compliance with applicable Federal and District regulations (EPA, DDOE, DOH, OSHA).
The Director is a key member of the GW Hospital Leadership Team and supports professional development and leadership growth. The ideal candidate will be committed to the GW Hospital mission of providing excellent service to DC/Metro citizens, patients, and international patients.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 3-5 years of relevant management experience required OR 8 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree, plus management experience as required.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment required
- Experience working in a union environment is preferred
- Experience using LEAN or other similar performance improvement methods to transform operations preferred
- Must complete GWUH Hazardous Materials Training for Generators within 60 Days of hire
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strategic planning skills
- Ability and experience to interact as a business partner to other departments and executives within the hospital and with external customers/partners
