Overview
Position Summary The Ambulatory Analyst is responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, and support of ambulatory clinical workflows within the organization’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This role partners closely with physicians, nurses, clinic staff, and operational leaders to ensure ambulatory care processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with clinical best practices.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze, design, configure, and maintain ambulatory EHR applications (e.g., scheduling, orders, documentation, referrals, health maintenance).
- Serve as a liaison between clinical end users and IT to translate clinical workflows into technical solutions.
- Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and optimization initiatives.
- Build and maintain clinical workflows, templates, preference lists, order sets, and decision support tools.
- Troubleshoot application issues and provide tier-2/3 support for ambulatory systems.
- Collaborate with training teams to develop end-user training materials and conduct workflow education.
- Support testing activities including unit testing, integrated testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Ensure system configurations comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., CMS, Joint Commission, HIPAA).
- Assist with data reporting, quality measures, and performance improvement initiatives related to ambulatory care.
- Document build specifications, workflows, and change management activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Clinical Informatics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Epic Ambulatory Certification and at least 10 years of experience implementing and/or supporting the application.
- Experience With EHR Systems (Epic Ambulatory strongly preferred).
- Strong understanding of outpatient clinical operations and workflows.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clinicians, operational staff, and technical teams.
- Epic Ambulatory Certification or Accreditation.
- Experience with ambulatory scheduling, orders, referrals, and clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of Meaningful Use / Promoting Interoperability, quality reporting, and population health.
- Prior experience in a hospital, medical group, or integrated delivery network.
- Experience with workflow optimization and change management.
