Cardiac Sonographer I performs an extensive range of cardiac ultrasound studies in the clinical and research settings at various locations. Examinations may include Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms, special procedures including but not limited to echo guided myocardial biopsies, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy studies, and additional procedures as dictated by research protocols and clinical trials. The Cardiac Sonographer I works closely with the Staff Sonographers, Level II and III, Medical Staff, and Investigators to ensure all exams are completed according to established policies and procedures.
This position will also include clinical instructor responsibilities to the JHH Ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows in the Echo Lab.
- Perform a wide range of cardiac ultrasound studies in clinical and research settings, including Transthoracic, Exercise, and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms.
- Carry out special procedures as dictated by protocols and clinical trials (e.g., echo guided myocardial biopsies, Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy studies).
- Collaborate with Staff Sonographers, Medical Staff, Investigators, and echo lab personnel to ensure exams follow established policies and procedures.
- Fulfill clinical instructor responsibilities for JHH Ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows in the Echo Lab.
- Graduation from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) – accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required. Additional clinical experience or credentials may be considered in lieu of some education.
- Required Licensure/Certification:
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by CCI. - Preferred but not required:
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT). - Work Experience:
Successful completion of a CAAHEP-accredited diagnostic program is required. Experience as a Cardiac Sonographer in a hospital setting or additional experience as a vascular technologist is desirable.
Salary Range:
Minimum 36.47/hour - Maximum 60.21/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
