Position InformationThe Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine (BMM), George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), seeks a postdoctoral associate to explore the role of age‑associated metabolic perturbations in epithelial progenitors during the development of progressive lung fibrosis. The lab employs transgenic mice,
-omic technologies, and organoid models to investigate how metabolic dysfunction intersects with epigenetic reprogramming in lung injury.
- Design, organize, and conduct specialized and advanced experiments using established protocols; troubleshoot and design new protocols when necessary.
- Collect, prepare, and analyze research data; maintain detailed notebooks, databases, and statistical analyses; create graphics for publication and presentations.
- Supervise other personnel in the laboratory, including fellow, resident, student, and volunteer workers.
- Oversee reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, animal maintenance; assist with ordering, procurement, and general laboratory maintenance.
- Participate in training of undergraduate and graduate students; provide mentorship and guidance.
- Publish results in scholarly journals and present findings at conferences.
- Perform other duties logically related to the position as assigned.
- Holds a PhD or equivalent degree.
- Receives financial support (salary) typically funded by grants, contracts, or departmental funds secured by a faculty mentor.
- Eligibility for a limited term of up to five years at GW.
- Active participation in scholarly projects under faculty mentorship, contributing to discovery research, data analysis, publication preparation, and career development guidance.
Applicants must have fulfilled all requirements for the award of a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field by the date of employment.
Desired QualificationsPrior background in genetics and experience applying genetic tools in model organisms is preferred.
Compensation and BenefitsHiring Range: $61,008 – $64,356.
