Position Summary

The Emotional Wellness Therapist, Addictions reports directly to the Lead Emotional Wellness, Addictions. This full-time role is based at the Conway Health and Resource Center in SW DC and includes supervision of Master level Interns and licensed graduate clinicians as appropriate.

Salary
:
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000

Highlighted Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provides consultation and guidance surrounding substance use disorders and/or co-occurring disorders, staying up to date with best practices, current drug trends, and community resources.
  • Provides professional addiction counseling and psychotherapy to clients, including diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, and counseling for Substance Use Disorders and/or co-occurring disorders.
  • Interviews, evaluates, and assigns diagnoses for clients with complex problems related to alcohol, other drug use, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Completes required screening tools to assess clinical diagnoses and monitor symptoms; develops treatment plans for short- and long-term therapy clients.
  • Monitors client progress, reevaluates and adapts treatment plans at appropriate intervals (updates at least every 3 months or as needed).
  • Provides crisis intervention per licensing and COH guidelines, including handling suicidal/homicidal ideations.
  • Coordinates addiction recovery services, treatment planning, progress reporting, and referrals in accordance with program guidelines.
  • Follows COH clinical protocols and contacts appropriate authorities when needed (e.g., Child and Family Services Administration, Adult Protective Services, Mobile Crisis, and/or 911).
  • Assists in identifying and addressing related problems affecting recovery (housing, vocational rehabilitation, social integration) and coordinates with other staff and community providers.
  • Documents all materials in the electronic health record within established time frames and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
  • LICSW or LPC required, with experience treating persons with addictive disorders. Licensure reimbursement available for out-of-state licenses with proper documentation.
  • Valid BLS Certification required.
  • Experience in a community health center setting preferred.
  • Ability to travel between sites; may require evening or weekend hours depending on client needs and events.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and technology.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the ability to acquire knowledge as needed.
  • Thorough knowledge of substance abuse treatment principles, counseling techniques, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Experience facilitating SUD group therapy, co-occurring group therapy, and psycho-education groups on recovery.
  • Ability to complete assessments and diagnostic forms for medical records.
  • Ability to intervene appropriately in crisis situations and work with diverse populations.
  • Clinical skills in group and family counseling and psychotherapy; sensitivity to diverse cultural, ethnic, and sexual orientation identities.
