Through the holistic integration of its Pillars of Opportunity, Sasha Bruce is able to provide safe homes, life skills, workforce & education, and health & wellness to meet the unique needs of homeless youth. For more than 45 years, Sasha Bruce has implemented innovative interventions aimed at bringing an end to youth homelessness in the DC region.
Today, its programs in DC and Prince George’s County, MD, reach over 6,500 runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth, and their families.
The Behavioral Health Clinician reports to the Program Manager of Philip Reid and regularly checks in with the Clinical Team. They respond to the behavioral health needs of program participants, providing on‑site counseling and clinical support.
Qualifications- Required license/certification:
Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Licensure to practice psychotherapy in Washington, DC, independently or under supervision (LGSW, LICSW, LGPC, LPC). - Preferred: 3–5 years of experience providing services in behavioral health, addiction treatment and mental health; experience in a primary care setting or the community; experience working with the homeless population.
- Minimum of 2 years of extensive experience with at‑risk youth.
- Competency in crisis intervention and de‑escalation.
- Modalities may include Family Systems, CBT, Somatic Experiencing, Group, and EMDR.
- Provision of LGBTQ‑affirming, de‑pathologized care.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and required clearances. Full‑time, exempt position.
- Provide a range of clinical services to youth, including individual, group, and family therapy.
- Deliver individual crisis intervention on site; de‑escalate and stabilize clients.
- Facilitate psycho‑education groups on‑site using evidence‑based practices (substance abuse, coping skills, mental health and wellbeing).
- Assess therapeutic needs and create person‑centered treatment and safety plans.
- Assess eligibility for community‑based services and coordinate with families, schools, law enforcement, emergency services, and other partners.
- Complete service documentation in client case records within 24–48 hours.
- Participate in regular team consultation meetings, staff meetings, training, conferences, supervision and community outreach events.
- Complete all required training annually.
- Participate in clinical supervision with the Sasha Bruce Clinical Team.
- Availability in evenings and weekends as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or Chief of Programs.
