Certified Addiction Counselor I (CAC I)The CAC I role is vital in providing individual counseling to individuals struggling with addiction, conducting treatment referrals to inpatient treatment facilities, and collaborating with external agencies to support clients on their journey to sobriety.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide individual counseling sessions to clients dealing with addiction issues.
- Lead and facilitate treatment groups to address addiction and related mental health concerns.
- Coordinate referrals and admissions to inpatient treatment programs for clients in need of intensive care.
- Collaborate with external agencies, including the court system, DYS, and CFSA, to advocate for clients and ensure access to necessary resources.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and screenings to evaluate clients’ needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed, ensuring that goals are met within a 90‑day timeframe.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records, documenting all interactions and treatment interventions.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in addiction treatment and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Associate’s degree in counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Must maintain current and valid Certified Addiction Counselor I certification as required by the District of Columbia.
- 1‑3 years of experience in addiction counseling or related field.
- Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Strong interpersonal skills and engagement with adolescent populations.
- Good judgment and ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Credible highly desirable or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
