Overview
The incumbent of this position serves as Clinical Psychologist in the Forensic Division, Behavioral Health Authority and is responsible for providing the full range of forensic psychological services and assessments for consumers. Provides a full range of court-ordered forensic evaluations and interventions in outpatient, inpatient, jail, and court clinic settings involving the most complex and severely disturbed consumers. Makes recommendations and works closely with hospital and community-based service providers, legal and judicial authorities, and other stakeholders in establishing long and short-range goals for justice-involved consumers.
Provides expert court testimony and serves as consultant to staff of other disciplines and agencies. Provides training for psychology trainees and pre-licensure psychologists.

Qualifications RequirementsSatisfactory completion as an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral program (Ph.D. or Psy.
D) in clinical or counseling psychology and an APA-accredited clinical internship. This position requires one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 12 level. In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must be a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the District of Columbia through the DC Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration.

Work EnvironmentWork is in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.
Background Checks and RequirementsThis position requires a criminal background check and other checks/tests as part of protection-sensitive designation:
- Criminal background check;
- Traffic record check (as applicable);
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol test;
- Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test;
- Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test; and
- Return-to-duty or follow-up drug and alcohol test.
This position also requires a pre-employment physical.
Residency PreferenceA District resident at the time of application may be awarded a 10-point residency preference, subject to proof of bona fide District residency and maintenance for 7 consecutive years from the appointment date.
