General Summary of Position

Med Star Health is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team at Capitol Hill Urgent Care.

The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or a registered nurse. Duties may include venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, measurement and documentation of vital signs, assisting providers with patient exams, and telephone and clerical support. The position may float to other sites/locations within the system.

Primary Duties:

Assists providers with patient exams, procedures, education, and maintains smooth clinical workflows amid fluctuating patient volumes.

Screens patients for preventive care, safety concerns, and behavioral health needs; supports care coordination and transitions.

Performs clinical tasks including vital signs, lab tests, phlebotomy, EKGs, medication administration, and EMR documentation.

Ensures compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards by maintaining equipment, supplies, and infection control practices.

Provides administrative support, handles patient communications, medication refills, and floats to other sites as needed.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma (Required)
Completion of Medical Assistant certification program (Preferred)
Less than 1 year (6 months) experience working in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent (Required)
Externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting strongly preferred; completed externship at Med Star Health may be substituted for experience.
Prior experience as a medical assistant (Preferred)
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants within 1 year (Required) or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists within 1 year (Required)
CPR certification (BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from AHA or Red Cross within 90 days (Required)

This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08.
