Overview
This study is being conducted by
E.
B. Gross, a gender-complex parent, researcher, and doctoral student at the University of Michigan, to try to understand transgender and gender-expansive (TGE) young adults and their parents perceptions of the young person s gender and their parent s support for them.
The study seeks TGE young adults (age 18-26) AND one parent each to complete 20-minute online surveys about their understandings of the TGE young person s gender and the parent s level of support, as well as current and past mental health experiences. The goal is to learn about whether families are on the same page about parental support for TGE identity, or if not, where there may be misunderstandings -- and whether different understandings of parent support have an impact on the family s well-being.
