RESPIRATORY THERAPIST (RRT) - Part Time - New Rates

This position is part of the Respiratory Care Department where clinicians deliver cutting‑edge respiratory therapy to critically ill patients.

• Ventilator management, including ARDS protocol, advanced vent modes (APRV, ASV, NAVA), inhaled nitric oxide administration, and airway clearance therapies.
• Airway management, non‑invasive ventilation, oxygen therapy, and emergency response team participation.
• Provide care in Emergency Department, Level I Trauma Center, Post‑Surgical ventilator weaning, open heart surgery, liver transplant, indirect calorimetry, bedside PFTs, inpatient sleep studies, point‑of‑care testing, ICU mobilization.
• Multidisciplinary tracheostomy management, speaking valve care, and involvement in Level III NICU, medical ICU, trauma/Neuro ICU, pulmonary care unit, and general floors.
• Maintain and stock respiratory equipment; ensure ventilator and life‑support equipment are operable.
• Conduct routine and intensive therapy, diagnostic procedures, and patient assessments in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate effectively, maintain confidentiality, adapt to multiple and changing priorities, and provide basic computer and customer service skills.
• Identify and competently address needs of the population served. Minimum 0–1 year full‑time experience as a Certified Respiratory Therapist in an acute care setting.

• Graduation from an approved two‑year respiratory therapist program.
• Licensed by the District of Columbia Health Regulation as an RRT and certified by NBRC; or licensed as a CRT with intent to become registered within a year.
• BLS Basic Life Support required; ACLS and PALS within six months of hire.
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
