Position: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant 31 39 hr Washington DC

Position Summary/Responsibilities

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) is responsible for supporting the Occupational Therapist in providing high-quality therapy services to help patients improve their ability to perform daily activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in conducting patient assessments and developing personalized treatment plans.
  • Implementing therapy interventions to enhance patients' functional independence and quality of life.
  • Monitoring patient progress and adjusting treatment plans as needed under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
  • Educating patients and families on therapy goals and strategies for improving daily function.
  • Documenting patient progress and maintaining accurate records in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
  • Collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
  • Ensuring compliance with facility policies and state and federal healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assisting from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid PTA license/certification.
  • Experience working with adult/geriatric populations preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and patient care skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including patient transfers, equipment handling, and extended periods of standing/walking.
