Clinical Pharmacist at Children's National Hospital

Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr

• Interpret medication orders, profile orders and oversee the packaging, labeling and distribution of medications.
• Perform drug therapy monitoring and intervene as necessary on drug dosing, drug administration, drug interactions, side-effects and monitoring issues; complete therapeutic drug monitoring consults and adverse drug reaction reports as assigned.
• Provide accurate and timely drug information to physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
• Interpret research medication orders, ensure accurate preparation of investigational drugs and maintain complete and accurate records.
• Maintain proficiencies in medication handling (including hazardous medications), compounding sterile/non-sterile preparations and completing quality assurance checks per standard operating procedures and policies in compliance with USP and guidelines.
• Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians by directing and assisting as necessary to ensure rapid medication order turn‑around time.
• Assist with the education, training and general supervision of Pharmacy Residents, Students and Technicians.
• Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance.
• Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation.
• Stop in the face of uncertainty and take time to resolve the situation.

• Minimum education:
  
  Completion of a five‑year pharmacy program in an accredited college of pharmacy. (Required)
• Minimum work experience: 1 year of pharmacy experience. (Required)
• Proficiency in medication handling, compounding, and quality assurance per standard operating procedures and USP guidelines.
