Medical Assistant - Oncology Part Time

Overview

Med Star Health is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our team at Washington Hospital Center. In this part‑time role, you will perform a range of basic clinical, billing, and clerical services under the direction of a registered nurse or physician.

• Receive and screen telephone callers, provide information per department policy, route calls, take and forward messages, and schedule appointments.
• Greet patients, visitors, and staff, determine their needs, register patients, confirm insurance, accept payments, enter data into databases, prepare routine correspondence, and transcribe dictated physician notes.
• Prepare patients for examination, escort to exam room, take vital signs, collect specimens, perform electrocardiography functions, assist physician in examinations and procedures, clean rooms between patients, administer oral and parenteral medications and immunizations.
• Maintain patient charts, departmental files, billing and appointment logs; pre‑register out‑patients; inventory and order office and clinical supplies; ensure equipment functions properly; assure billing accuracy; and handle incoming mail.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred.
• Training in typing, office procedures, and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Secretarial or office experience demonstrating organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of office computers and clinical procedures in a hospital or medical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant within one year of hire.

USD $23.82 – $36.35 per hour.
