What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and representative for the employer’s Center for Public Policy in Washington, D.C.
  • Assist in developing legislative strategies and managing relationships with members of Congress and their staff
  • Research and track federal issues, budgets, and legislation affecting the employer and the cancer community
  • Develop messaging and resource materials for priority policy issues
  • Provide project management support for the employer’s public policy efforts within Congress
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Political Science, Government Affairs, or Communications
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive professional policy experience at the federal level
  • Extensive knowledge of the federal legislative and budget processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with policymakers and stakeholders
  • Advanced-level proficiency with MS Office products
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience working for or with patient advocacy organizations
  • Working knowledge of the breast cancer public policy and advocacy environment
  • Ability to synthesize complex policy concepts for non-experts
  • Excellent program management abilities including strong planning and execution skills
