Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for the role,
Director of Government Affairs.
The Director of Government Relations is a lead advocate for American Bakers Association (ABA) on a portfolio of food sector policy priorities. Additionally, the Director serves as a liaison with the ABA membership on policy activities and provides ABA with visibility in political and grassroots arenas. The Director works in collaboration with the Vice President in the management of ABA’s Government Relations budgeting and expense tracking.
The Director must be highly organized, self-motivated, and a collaborative team player.
- Lead advocate for ABA on a portfolio of food sector policy priorities.
- Serve as a liaison with ABA membership on policy activities and provide visibility in political and grassroots arenas.
- Collaborate with the Vice President in managing ABA’s Government Relations budgeting and expense tracking.
- Demonstrate high organization, self-motivation, and collaborative teamwork.
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, agribusiness, economics, journalism, business, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Related Master’s degree is desirable.
- 5-6 years’ relevant congressional, association, or corporate experience in public policy and/or public affairs.
- Experience working on food policy issues is strongly desired.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with other staff and member leaders.
- Ability to articulate an advocacy position, policy strategy, and inspire others to support the strategic objectives.
- Ability to translate complex policy substance and process to business audience and motivate action.
- Ability to work well under pressure, to meet deadlines while making sound decisions, and to accommodate shifting priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team, establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relations with other staff, as well as ABA members and stakeholders, as appropriate.
- Beyond teamwork, must also be able to work independently and make high level strategic decisions.
- Must be a customer-focused, results-oriented team player.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic, hybrid work environment.
Annual salary for this position is $125,000 - $150,000
, commensurate with experience.
