DutiesAs a Personnel Security Specialist, you will manage the CBP Personnel Suitability and Security Program for applicants (Federal and contracted) and employees (Federal and contracted) which includes the initiation and adjudication of pre-employment investigations for applicants, the initiation and adjudication of periodic reinvestigations for CBP employees, continuous evaluation, as applicable, and the rendering of eligibility determinations for access to classified information and to occupy a national security position.

The major duties for this position include but are not limited to:
Reviewing a variety of documents, including, but not limited to, pre-investigation (i.e., submitted investigation packages to ensure compliance and adequacy of the package), post-investigation (i.e., all information obtained/developed during the investigation process), quality assurance and compliance (i.e., previously completed investigations and/or adjudications), and credentialing (i.e., submitted requests for background credentials). Making determinations to grant or deny authorizations based on the information provided, including, but not limited to, making determinations as to the type/level of investigation required, rendering adjudicative determination as to the subject's suitability or fitness for employment, conducting compliance activities/inspections of contact investigative service providers, and rendering a determination to grant/deny credentials.
Developing written reports, including, but not limited to, creating and/or documenting all actions within designated systems of records needed for pre-investigation, creating a detailed summary of information which supports the adjudicative determination, producing a written review of quality assurance reviews thoroughly noting any specific deficiencies, and documenting and tracking credential requests in databases (including ISMS). Serving in a project/team lead role, including, but not limited to, providing technical guidance to others on a specific project, task, or procedure, providing 1st line review of suitability/fitness or eligibility cases, and represent the agency in various working groups.
