Compensation: $235,000 - $310,000 (2nd - 4th Year)
The Opportunity
A top-tier financial services law practice in Washington, D.C. is seeking a junior Banking Regulatory (Blockchain) Associate to join a cutting-edge regulatory team advising the most sophisticated players in traditional finance and digital assets.
This role sits at the intersection of banking regulation, blockchain technology, and emerging financial infrastructure. You will work directly with nationally recognized leaders in bank regulatory and digital asset law on matters that are shaping the future of finance – from crypto custody frameworks and tokenization to DeFi, payments, and regulatory engagement with U.S. financial authorities.
For a junior lawyer, this is a rare opportunity to receive hands-on training, real client exposure, and mentorship in a practice that is both intellectually rigorous and commercially transformative.
Responsibilities- Advise on federal and state banking laws, financial institution regulation, AML/KYC, and payments frameworks as applied to blockchain and digital asset products.
- Support regulatory strategy and compliance for banks, fintechs, crypto platforms, funds, and infrastructure providers.
- Research and draft high-level memoranda on novel and unsettled regulatory questions involving digital assets, custody, tokenized products, stable coins, and decentralized finance.
- Assist with regulatory filings, licensing matters, supervisory interactions, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
- Participate in client calls and strategic discussions with regulators and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to thought leadership, client alerts, and policy analysis in the blockchain and financial regulatory space.
- Minimum of 2 years practicing at a law firm.
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admitted to practice in D.C.
- Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Strong interest in banking regulation, financial services, fintech, and blockchain technology.
- Comfortable working on fast-moving, novel legal issues with limited precedent.
- Prior exposure to securities, banking, financial regulation, or crypto/digital assets is a plus.
