Controller [6326]
Nonprofit organization seeks a permanent Controller to oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
Responsibilities- Maintain internal controls and compliance activities, ensuring alignment with policies and all federal, state, provincial, and local regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis and develop financial reports and statements.
- Perform research and risk management analysis
- Oversee financial management of grants, developing budgets, ensuring compliance with terms, reconciling grant expenditures, and organizing pertinent documents such as agreements, amendments, and financial reports.
- Create standard operating procedures and train staff on grant management procedures.
- Prepare and review annual audit and regulatory filings.
- Manage annual budget process along with senior leadership.
- Liaise with external stakeholders and serve as primary point of contact for vendors and service providers.
- Assist with additional special projects as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Exemplary judgment and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to foster a positive work environment.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines effectively.
- Highly organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and financial systems.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office applications and Sage Intacct.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Salary: $140,000 - $160,000 per year.
