Role Overview :The Senior Traffic Engineer leads transportation planning and engineering projects with a focus in traffic analysis, multimodal studies and Traffic Impact Analysis (TIAs). As a senior team member, you oversee project budgets, schedules, run internal team and client communication, as well as mentor junior staff, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plans and guide efforts to reduce congestion and optimize multimodal travel.
- Analyze transportation/traffic data to identify trends and inform project recommendations.
- Technical Delivery of technical reports, simulations, modeling results, and presentations for clients, stakeholders, and agencies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, scopes, and deliverables while ensuring quality outcomes.
- Lead engagement meetings, build relationships with clients, and present findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure all projects meet regulatory compliance for local, state, and federal standards and coordinate with agencies (e.g., VDOT, DDOT, county planning departments).
- Contribute to team development by mentoring and supporting junior staff, contributing to professional growth and project success.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Master’s in Urban Planning (preferred)
- 6+ years of experience in transportation planning or traffic engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), PTOE, or AICP preferred
