Electrical Engineer – Motor Controls & Power Conversion
Contract: 6-month contract-to-hire
In office 1-2 days per week, 3-4 days remote.
What You’ll Do- Design and develop high-power motor controls and power conversion systems (motor drives, inverters, active front-end rectifiers).
- Lead electrical design for systems/subsystems and own designs end-to-end (design, build, test, troubleshoot).
- Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineers.
- Support hands‑on build and test of custom, one‑off systems.
- Mentor junior engineers as needed.
- BS in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field).
- 10+ years experience designing custom high‑power motor controls and power electronics
. - Strong experience with three‑phase motors, motor drives, inverters, and power conversion
. - Hands‑on experience with embedded motor control implementation (MCU/DSP,
C). - Ability to work from high‑level requirements with minimal supervision.
- US Citizen and able to obtain a DoD security clearance
.
- Advanced motor control techniques (SVPWM, sensorless/sensored control).
- PCB layout for high‑power / low‑noise designs.
- MATLAB/Simulink, SPICE, Altium.
- Experience with marine, robotics, or defense systems
.
