Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Chemical Process Engineer opportunity at the Catholic University of America’s Vitreous State Laboratory in Washington, DC
.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Chemical Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting chemical processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop chemical processes for production.
- Perform process simulations, modeling, and optimization studies.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for process and equipment issues.
Develop and maintain process documentation, including PFDs and P&IDs. - Collaborate with R&D, operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5 to 20 years of experience in chemical process engineering.
- Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, ChemCAD).
- Strong knowledge of chemical process design and control systems.
- Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and environmental compliance standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team environments.
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Familiarity with CAD or engineering design software.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation and testing methods.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification.
Job Requirements

Pay is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $100K to $187K annually.
