RF Engineer Digital

Status: Full-Time, Contingent Upon Award (Start date on or around 30 April)

Location: Washington DC

Security Clearance: Current U.S. Government final Top Secret Personnel Security Clearance and able to qualify for SCI access

Travel: 0 to 10 percent CONUS and OCONUS travel may be required for program coordination.

Vectrona is seeking an RF Engineer Digital to lead radio frequency engineering efforts in evaluating new OEM RF technologies, including hardware and software based radios and office and mobile information technologies. The engineer assesses RF and optical technologies, identifies potential security vulnerabilities, and provides technical reports and recommendations to senior government officials.

The RF Engineer Digital conducts open-source research on emerging technologies, establishes RF environment baselines worldwide, and performs laboratory testing to document vulnerabilities and countermeasures. The role supports drafting and reviewing technical security policies and guidelines related to advanced information technologies and their implementation within Department of State environments.

• Identifying previously unrecognized signal emanations, maintaining databases of signal parameters for future detection, and conducting testing across technologies such as GSM, GPRS, CDMA, IEEE 802.11 Wi Fi standards, IEEE 802.15, Free Space Optical, and RFID systems.
• Managing data throughout its lifecycle to support technical analysis, reporting, and operational requirements.

• Five years of RF experience with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field, or ten years of equivalent RF experience

• Experience in advanced radio wave propagation theory, digital communication systems, and bit stream analysis preferred
• Familiarity with emerging mobile information technologies
• SIGINT or Signal Analyst experience preferred
• Familiarity with cryptography and security best practices for computer networks and mobile systems
• Knowledge of commercial RF technologies including GSM, GPRS, EDGE, CDMA, Bluetooth, IEEE 802.11 a b g n ac, RFID, and WiMAX
• Knowledge of information technology hardware and software capabilities
• Understanding of modulation schemes and signal types
• Awareness of Intelligence Community policies and agency specific standards
• Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition
