SUE Field Technician

Position available in Washington, DC (optional Rockville, MD office).

• Analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints.
• Travel to assigned work sites and perform utility designation (identifying and marking underground facilities).
• Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locates.
• Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures.
• Contact Senior SUE Tech when assistance is needed.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

• 1+ year of experience with SUE and/or private utility locating.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and field conditions.
• Physical demands include extensive walking, bending, and ability to open manhole covers or other structures of varying weights.
• Ability to work on a vacuum truck, perform maintenance, complete test holes and reports; maintain all vac truck equipment and supplies.
• Proficient reading and understanding directional maps, topographic maps, and utility prints.
• Skill in using and interpreting electromagnetic utility locating equipment.
• Multi‑tasking ability (research calls for one project while commuting to another; coordinating with crew members).
• Ability to work out‑of‑town on an as‑needed basis.
