Job DescriptionParsons is seeking a motivated Associate Engineer – Drainage Engineering to join our team in Centreville, VA;
Baltimore, MD; or Washington, DC. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of drainage systems for transportation and infrastructure projects. Working alongside experienced engineers and project managers, you will help deliver high-quality solutions that meet client needs and regulatory requirements while advancing your technical expertise.
- Assist in the design and analysis of drainage systems, including stormwater management, culverts, and erosion control measures.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Storm
CAD, Civil 3D). - Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction drawings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate drainage designs into larger transportation and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and stormwater management standards.
- Support project managers in coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and support construction activities as needed.
- Stay informed on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in drainage engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 0–2 years of experience in drainage engineering or related areas (internship experience is acceptable).
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Storm
CAD, Civil 3D). - Knowledge of stormwater management principles and environmental regulations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with Micro Station or AutoCAD.
- Familiarity with local drainage design standards in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC.
