Civil Engineer / Structural Engineer

1-2 year plus assignment

• Perform Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering design reviews for Substation sites.
• Act as Project Engineer responsible for projects related to Substation Sites and Equipment.
• Coordinate and revise designs for civil site work, storm water, steel, concrete, foundations, transformers, reactors, breakers and other electric devices; coordinate with outsourcing engineering firms within substations.
• Coordinate Transmission Tower projects in design and/or analysis.
• Address Battery BESS replacement projects including floor analysis to withstand new battery systems and other equipment as needed.
• Coordinate revisions on substation roadways, storm water management (including channels and culverts) to remediate failures due to climate conditions or age.
• Support revisions and coordination with outsourcing engineering firms regarding design and analysis of new and/or existing substation building projects.
• Office work with some local travel to visit work sites within the local DC, MD, VA area.
• Collaborate with internal teams and outside EOCs on substation site upgrades: breaker replacement projects, transformer replacement projects, storm-water projects, oil containment projects.
• Provide civil work experience, drainage experience, site design and site development experience.
• Review work performed by 3rd party and function as liaison between outside engineering companies; provide detailed design directions to A.E. companies.
• Review and approve permit drawings and construction drawings; ensure adherence to engineering standards, construction standards, and safety codes. Provide support to construction group during construction phase to assure timely completion within defined scope.

• Bachelor's in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering.
• 10 to 15 years’ experience in engineering and electrical utility projects (preferred).
• PE certification is a plus, but not required.
• Electric utility experience preferred.
• STAAD experience;
  Math Cad, LPile is nice to have.
