Overview
Sayres, a renowned leader in defense support services to the DOD in the shipbuilding industry, is currently seeking a skilled Senior-EOSH Environmental Occupational Safety and Health Engineer in Washington, DC
.
This position is eligible for fully remote with travel as needed to support the customer.
Responsibilities- Provide support to Human Systems Integration across all ships/system boundaries and interfaces, emphasizing human factors engineering, human performance, manpower, personnel, survivability, system safety, training, and quality of life related to ship and system design.
- Provide support for environmental and system safety.
- Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Assist and prepare recommendations to the programmatic and technical authorities who implement DoD, SECNAV, OPNAV, and NAVSEA system environmental and safety requirements and policies.
- Provide system safety input to the program's Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), Programmatic Environment Safety and Health Evaluation (PESHE), system requirements, statements of work/statements of objectives, and RFPs.
- Review Contractor delivered safety products and provide feedback on adequacy, gaps, and issues.
- Develop required program documents such as the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and the Hazardous Materials Management Program Plan (HMMP).
Be a Certified Principal For Safety (PFS) under the NAVSEA Certification Program
Be familiar with Navy procedures and policies (DoD 5000 process);
Foreign Military Sales;
Military Sealift Command procedures and processes; supervisory experience; experience communicating with SES/Flag level personnel; shipbuilding experience.
Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an Industry discipline
- 10+ years DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management
- ESOH (Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health) Specialist
- Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS
Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates
- Master's degree in Engineering or an Industry discipline
- Professional Engineer License
- 15+ years DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management
- 5+ years Shipyard Safety Officer
