An established manufacturing organization is seeking a Controls Engineer to support strategic initiatives through the development, deployment, and long-term support of control system software for equipment operating within a continuous manufacturing environment. This role offers location flexibility, with a preference for candidates residing within reasonable proximity to one of the organization’s manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct all work with a high standard of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Design, develop, and maintain PLC programs for large-scale manufacturing process control systems, utilizing object-oriented programming methodologies and adhering to internal and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain reusable PLC function block libraries using object-oriented design principles.
  • Serve as a technical authority on industrial control systems, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to engineering, maintenance, and manufacturing personnel as needed.
  • Generate and maintain control system documentation throughout project life cycles to support system design and the development of process and engineering drawings.
  • Create, publish, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide control system standards and technical documentation.
  • Act as a change agent, supporting organizational initiatives related to automation, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting and resolving issues related to operational technology and control systems across multiple facilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams, often using remote or electronic communication tools.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.
  • Contribute positively to team engagement, cultural health, and intentional culture-building initiatives.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites and corporate offices up to approximately 15%.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in PLC program development and control theory.
  • At least 3 years of experience working with Siemens TIA Portal, process control systems, and motion control applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience with control algorithms and electrical systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with Siemens Simatic Manager, instrumentation theory, PID control loops, and mechanical systems.
  • 1+ year of experience applying object-oriented programming concepts within industrial control environments.
