450 is the acquisition program office for the New Construction of Attack Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarines. 450 is responsible for developing and deploying a more affordable, nuclear-powered attack submarine with multi-mission capability and enhanced capabilities for performance in littoral areas. VIRGINIA Class submarines support five of the six Navy core maritime capabilities:

450, the VIRGINIA Class Submarine program office. This is an opportunity to join our growing team to contribute and influence the Navy's future, premier attack submarine. A submarine electrical engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, inspection, and technical consulting of shipboard electrical systems. They work on a wide range of projects, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and maritime regulations. Electrical systems are essential to all aspects of a submarine, from its power distribution, lighting and controls to its navigation and communication.
Many electrical engineers are therefore involved at all stages to keep these systems fine-tuned. The role includes developing technical specifications, conducting shipboard surveys, and providing technical support for ship conversions and new constructions. A role as a submarine engineer will take you on a journey like no other. Playing your part in creating powerful naval vessels, you'll work on some of the most advanced technology in the world.
These roles are crucial for the effective operation of underwater infrastructure and systems. These engineers provide support to a Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) customer. This role will support the management and execution of technical and design requirements for new and ongoing submarine shipbuilding programs. Candidates should possess strong engineering and acquisition fundamentals, as well as expertise with surface and undersea shipbuilding programs.
In this role, you will:
* Assess risk for technical decisions for Electrical Systems for VIRGINIA Class Ships. Deliver detailed support/risk briefs to Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Deputy Ship Design Managers and provides technical expertise in the production of critical design and production documents provided by the SITs and MAITs.
* Provide engineering assessment, research, and problem resolution for VIRGINIA class Electrical Systems.
* Be a technical SME who is familiar with cabling, junction boxes, motors, actuators and the material requirements associated with them.
* Provide expert responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Engineering Reports (ERs), Work Deferral Requests (WDRs), Departures from Specification (DFS), and Liaison Action Requests (LAR).
* Support the VIRGINIA Class submarine Program Office for the integration and execution of VIRGINIA Electrical system concept and design changes by participating / leading VTCs, working groups, and planning and technical meetings.
* Assist with the development and implementation of programmatic documentation including ship and systems specifications, performance specifications, interface control documentation, and design decision documentation.
* Provide subject matter expertise with managing of programmatic, technical, administrative and support activities required to develop and execute the VIRGINIA Block V functions.
* Provide subject matter expertise in the development of technology roadmaps and processes to support Block Upgrades.
