Wireless Telecommunications Design Lead – Jacobs
We’re looking for a Wireless Telecommunications Design Lead to work with clients in the Data Center market, delivering innovative solutions that transform the world for good.
Base Pay Range$91,400.00/yr – $/yr
Your ImpactAs a wireless telecommunications project lead, you will play a critical role in the entire design process, from initial assessments to final delivery. You will work on various projects assigned by a Manager or Lead Engineer, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities- Conduct preliminary assessments and create initial concepts.
- Support peer leaders, SMEs, and BIM designers in leading design efforts.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to produce drawing packages.
- Collaborate with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and carriers, creating or modifying DIV 27 specifications.
- Perform site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Design wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Optimize systems during design and installation phases.
- Document and manage project schedules and budgets.
- Identify and mitigate company risk.
- Technical or associate's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio, Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN).
- Hands‑on experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner or equivalent modeling tools.
- Knowledge of wireless performance metrics (Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, VSWR).
- Profound understanding of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPIs, IBC, FCC parts 20 & 90, and FCC OET bulletin 65.
- Experience troubleshooting field issues and coordinating with clients to determine wireless communication needs.
- Project management skills: creating budgets, schedules, responding to RFPs, and mitigating risk.
- Self‑motivation for cross‑disciplinary coordination.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL certification.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical or Communication Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE licensure.
